Volvo has unveiled a new concept at the ongoing Shanghai Auto Show. No, it’s not a snazzy piece of metal with doors and wheels but a design study of what could be the interior of executive cars of future.
This new concept takes executive car luxury to a new level. It offers busy chauffeur-driven occupants a compact and versatile solution to expanded storage and comfort. In fact, the Lounge Console replaces the front passenger seat, providing a wealth of functions.
There’s a large work table which opens to reveal an illuminated vanity mirror, including a storage tray for personal accessories. The table rotates 90 degrees and simultaneously powers forward to display a 17-inch media screen for in-car entertainment. There’s additional space for shoes below the cushioned leg rest and a lockable storage box elsewhere in the cabin. The highlight of the concept is a clear forward vision thanks to the removal of the front passenger seat.
The intention with this concept is to showcase two things – firstly that Volvo Cars is aware of the needs of our executive customers and secondly, that with design innovation and modern materials we can effectively create passenger experience that is unique in the premium car segment.
