Mahindra teases the facelifted XUV 500

The refreshed XUV 500 gets cosmetic changes, the major one being the chrome grille and new headlamps. The headlamp housing encloses the new S-shaped LED DRLs that are similar to the ones on the new Scorpio. The front bumper is the same, but features fog lamps with chrome accents. The SUV sports alloy wheels with a new pattern and the rear gets a chrome registration plate enclosure.

With some additional features in the cabin, Mahindra has increased the luxury and plush factor with the use of better quality materials in the interior. The car is expected to come equipped with the latest features and technologies like that of the new Scorpio.

The updated XUV 500 is expected to be powered by the same 2.2-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine seen under the hood of the present vehicle and produces 140bhp of power. The six-speed manual transmission will be continued from the previous.

The upgraded XUV 500 will be launched on May 25 and continue to compete with the Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano in India.
